Description

Screen used to create new claims, either from clinical encounters or manually by selecting a patient.


Access

There are two methods to access the screen:

  1. From the Billing screen: Click on the Createbutton.
  2. From the main menu: Click on the New Claim button.
  3. From main menu: Click on Quicklinks located at the top of screen. Select the Billing option and press the Create button. 


Sections

  • Quick Claim / Create Claim without Encounter: This section is used to create new claims without the need of a system encounter.  Search for and select a patient, the press Create or Queue the claim to create it. (Optional: Select one of the options to automatically add a new visit code to the claim: 99201 for a 15 min visit or 99203 for a 30 min visit). Codes can be changed on the claim edit screen. 

    • Patient Search: Enter search criteria to initiate patient search.

    • Add Service Line: Initial New Visit - 30 Minutes: Adds code 99203.

    • Add Service Line: Initial Office / Outpatient Visit - 15 Minutes: Adds code 99201.

    • Buttons:

      • Create Claim: Opens the Claim Editor screen to modify the claim for the selected patient.
      • Queue Claim: Queues the the selected encounters or manually added claims.
      • : Click to move all of the unbilled clinical encounters the Claims Queue. 
  • Unbilled Clinical Encounters: Displays all of the clinical encounters for which claims have not been created.
    • Double Click over any encounter to move into the claim queue.
    • Right Click over any encounter to discard it by classifying it as: Ignore / Mask as processed
  • Create Claim Queue: The system will create claims for All entries listed on this panel when the Create button is pressed (Bottom right of the screen), unless:
    • Double Click over any entry to remove it from the create claims queue. All manually added entries are deleted, entries added from clinical encounters will return to the unbilled encounters area.
    • Clear All: By pressing this button the encounter will be removed from the Create Claim Queue section and will be added again to the Unbilled Clinical Encounters.
    • Create: By pressing this button all encounters in the Create Claim Queue section will create a claim. (All claims in the area must be saved by user in the Claim Editor screen.)
