- Go to the Advanced Progress Note screen.
- Press the Add Referral button, located in the Side Bar section.
- Or, click on the Search button, located at the top left of the screen and select the Add Referral option.
- The following screen will be displayed:
- Select the Template of the referral (they must be configured in the Settings / Clinical / Referral Template Settings screen).
- Select the type of referral in the Referral Type field.
- Search for the specialty you want by typing in the search box under the Specialty section. (If it is not listed as a favorite specialty).
- Search and select the provider in the Specific Provider field. (If it does not appear in the list of preferred providers).
- Since the referral will not be sent electronically, the Direct field is not required.
- Note: The Direct field indicates that the supplier can send the electronic referral to the selected supplier. If the e-referral is not sent, this field does not have to be populated. It is recommended to send the e-referral to increase the Meaningful Uses measure.
- Uncheck the following options: Attach Summary and Use eReferral / Direct (these options should only be checked when you are an electronic referral to another provider).
- In the tab called Referral, fill in the following fields: Referral Reason and Conclusion.
- When the referral is printed, it will be displayed with the following information: medications, diagnoses, allergies and vital signs, if selected.
Note: If the supplier does not want this information to be printed, they should uncheck the checkboxes in the section they do not want to be displayed in the report.
- Press the Save button to save the referral.
- The report will be automatically displayed on the screen, to be printed by the supplier.
- To view the referral that has just been saved, click on the History tab.
