A screen designed to manage the medication list of patients.


Access 


Through the Side Bar section: To access the Medication History, click the corresponding button on the Side Bar within the Progress Note screen. If the Medication History button is missing, click the Settings button on the Progress Note toolbar, then choose Side Bar Settings. From the right side of the screen, drag and drop the Medication History item into the items window located at the lower left corner of any Side Bar category. To apply the changes, click the Save button. The Side Bar will update, and the Medication History button will now be visible under the selected category.

Through the Search section: Click on the Search button located on the left side of the screen, then select the Medication History button.

Through the Patient Dashboard section: To access the Medication List, click on the link found in the Patient Dashboard, or select the 'More' button and choose the 'Open Full Page' option.


Sections


Buttons

  • More:
    • Adm Drugs: The Medication Administration screen is utilized to record medications administered in-office to the patient.
    • Eligibility: Select here to initiate the eligibility verification process.
    • Interactions: The Medication Interactions screen is designed to check or review potential interactions between medications.
    • Reconcile: The Patient Pharmacy Network History screen is opened to conduct medication reconciliation with the patient's medication history.
    • Reference: Click for additional details on the chosen medication, such as educational handouts in English and Spanish, dosage guidelines, a dosage calculator, and medication warnings.
    • Save Layout: Allows for the saving of screen layouts according to user preferences.
    • Restore Layout: Enables the display of the screen's original layout.
    • Print: The print preview will change based on the selected area or portion of the screen.
    • By Medication: Generate a report of the medications displayed on the screen. (To filter the display, select one of the following: Active, Discontinued, Cancelled, or All.)
    • By Prescription: Select a prescription for printing.
  • Print: Enables printing of the patient's active, canceled, and discontinued medications.
  • No Known Drugs: This is utilized to certify that the patient is not on any medication, which is necessary to aid in complying with the Meaningful Use measure for maintaining a Medication List.
  • Renewal: Click here to renew your selected medication.
  • New Rx: Create a new prescription.
  • Add+: Include the medication in the patient's list of medications.
  • Edit: Enables editing of a selected patient's medication.
  • Cancel: Enables the cancellation of the patient's selected medication.
  • Save: Enables the storage of changes made on the screen.
  • Previous: Return to the previous screen

Filters: Choose from Active, Discontinued, Cancelled, or All.

  • NarxCare: Upon pressing, the monitoring program will appear, displaying information about addiction points and the history of controlled medications prescribed to the patient. Providers can access this report by clicking the "Show Report" button. (Note: The information in this section is provided by ASSMCA.)

  • Show Report: Clicking the "Show Report" button will display the following screen: 

[By Medication] Tab: Display medications. Right-click on any specific drug to access the following options:


  • Medline Plus Connect: Functionality of the info button for additional drug information.
  • Change Dosage: Select an alternative dosage option for the same medication. (This will deactivate the previous selection.)
  • Re-Code and Update: If an NDC is not stored for a drug, this action initiates a search for available NDC codes corresponding to the selected drug.
  • Re-Code and Update Selected: If a drug lacks an NDC, the system will open the 10.6 ePrescribing NDC Updater screen.

[By Prescription] Tab: Displays previous prescriptions.


Medication Detail


  • Drug Description: Medication name. 
  • Qty / Units: Quantity / Units. 
  • Qty Qualifier: Drug form (Tablet, Capsule, etc.).
  • Refill: Number of medication refill. 
  • SIG: Instructions. 
  • Drug Types: OTC, sample, etc.
  • Days Supply: Number of days of medications supply. 
  • Lot NumberA lot number is used to identify a batch of medication provided by the same manufacturer.
  • Order Date: Date the medication was ordered. 
  • Renewal Date: Date the medication was renewed. 
  • Start Date: Date the patient started medication. 
  • End Date: Date the patient completed the medication treatment. 
  • Medication Status: Active, Cancelled or Discontinued
  • Reason: Reason to discontinue or cancel medication.
  • Notes: Free text

Prescription History By Medication


  • Date: Date medication was prescribed. 
  • Provider: Provider that prescribed medication. 
  • Quantity: The quantity number of the medication prescription.
  • Refill: Number of refills allowed for the medication. 
  • Status: The shipment status of a prescription can be displayed as follows:
  • Printed: The prescription was printed.
  • Electronically sent to pharmacy: The prescription has been sent to the pharmacy electronically.
  • Electronically received at the pharmacy: The pharmacy has received the prescription electronically.
  • Cancel Medication: Right-clicking in this section allows you to cancel the prescription. (Note: This action is only possible with an active electronic prescription.)


  • Last Updated by: The user who last updated the selected medication.
  • Last Updated Date: The date of the last updated selected medication.
